Healing After a Break Up Strategies

Heartbreak is one of the most painful emotional experiences. Everyone who has experienced it knows very well how painful it feels. The wound usually begins with a feeling of shock or disbelief. When in a relationship that we consider stable and full of hope, news of separation or betrayal can come suddenly.

Feelings of anxiety arise so quickly, often accompanied by anger or even confusion without knowing what to do. These are moments of uncertainty that add to feelings of loneliness.

Disappointment also occurs when someone feels abandoned or forgotten. Questions like, “What’s wrong with me?” or “Why am I not good enough?” may fill our minds.

Worse still, it is not uncommon for us to be trapped in recurring memories after a breakup. Every corner of the house, a certain song, or even a meal we used to eat together can bring back memories, shake our feelings, and make the hurt worse.

The desire to fix things or hope that the relationship can go back to how it was is very strong. It’s just that reality often says something different.

Even so, even though these feelings are difficult to deal with, they are actually part of the healing process. Heartbreak does feel devastating, but there are steps to healing after a break up to move forward and recover as follows.

1. Allow Yourself to Feel Emotions

The first step we must take in healing heartbreak is to give ourselves permission to feel all the emotions that arise. Don’t suppress the pain or try to ignore it. Give yourself space to feel sad, angry, or even confused. The healing process will not happen if we don’t face these emotions.

2. Give Space and Time for Yourself

After a relationship ends, it is very important to create distance from your ex. Avoid direct contact or communication that can reopen old wounds. Don’t get caught up in old habits, such as texting or meeting each other. This is a time to give yourself space to reflect and focus on yourself.

3. Accept the Reality, Don’t Get Trapped in Regret

Accepting the fact that the relationship is over is an important step in the healing process after a break up. Although it is difficult, trying to let go of the past and not get caught up in regret will help you move forward.

Remember, everyone has their own path in life and there is nothing wrong with ending an unhealthy relationship. Focus on what can be learned from the relationship. So that it can be capitalized to be better in the future.

Based on Jibby’s experience which he shared on his personal YouTube channel, don’t hold a grudge. Whatever happens to cause your heart to be broken, don’t let it be hidden in revenge. Plans for revenge will only rot in the hearts and minds without solving the problem. This is of course a new problem that is increasingly tormenting the mind.

4. Maintain Physical and Mental Health

During times of heartbreak, don’t ignore your physical and mental health. Do activities that make you feel good. Such as exercising, meditating, or even just walking outside the house. Exercise is not only beneficial for the body, but can also improve your mood.

5. Seek Positive Support

Don’t hesitate to seek support from those closest to you. Talking to friends or family who care can provide relief. Of course, it also helps reduce loneliness. Sometimes, just listening or receiving their attention can be a big step in healing after a break up.

6. Rediscover Yourself

After focusing so long on the relationship, we often lose ourselves. Use the healing time to rediscover what you love, what you want in life, and who you are outside of the relationship. Try a new hobby, pursue a forgotten dream, or focus on your career.

Heartbreak is a very difficult experience, but it is not the end of everything. Meanwhile, the process of healing after a break up certainly takes time and effort. So consistency and patience are key. Trust that the future is still full of opportunities. Every day is an opportunity to start a new chapter in your life that is more memorable. Don’t give up!
